Luck with batteries is very often luck of the draw and QC. I’ve been fortunate with aftermarket batteries. At a fraction of the brand name for any device, the few that failed don’t compare in percentage or cost to the value from the aftermarket batteries. This particular battery performs flawlessly. It outlasts the one my camera came with by a thousand shots! The battery is a monster that won’t die. The power indicator on the D50 will drop one cell for the first 500 shots, another cell for 400 to 500, and it will remain on the last cell for 400 to 700 more shots. It is quite amazing.
I run my batteries until they are dead, then swap out. At the end of a shoot I fully recharge the recently dead battery and leave the other in the camera until it dies. I rarely use flash, and when I do it is mostly with an external flash. I capture in full raw only. I don’t have the camera set to preview after shots. I do however, manually check the shot and zoom in for focus checks every short or after every burst of shots. I use prime lenses in AF mode, manual Kelvin white balance, center AF point with standard picture style setting on either AV or TV, and the some times a A-DEP.
At this price I’m buying more for a matched battery grip.

Luck of the Draw – Richwa –
I bought two of these batteries. I charged both straight out of the box with my Canon charger. One works great while the other won’t keep a charge. It costs two much to bother shipping the non-working one back so… The one that works is a five star. The one that doesn’t is a no-star.
